LAFAYETTE --A Chambers County jury Friday found for the plaintiff in a civil suit involving Albert Lee Pasley of Valley, a truck driver, against Shoney's Inc., owner of Captain D's in Phenix City. The jury awarded $75,000 in compensatory damages to Pasley. There were no punitive awards.
According to lead attorney W. O. "Trip" Walton III, Pasley ordered a meal on Oct. 25, 1994, at the Phenix City Captain D's. He requested a glass of water, drank three gulps and found out it was bleach instead of water. Pasley testified the mistake caused stomach pains, breathing problems and emotional distress.
